Frederiksberg Gardens was established in 1699 by King Frederik IV in connection with the construction of Frederiksberg Palace as his new summer retreat. The garden used to only be accessible for the royal family and was later opened up to wealthy individuals and later all citizens. It is now one of the most popular parks in Copenhagen during summer for sunbathing, walks and jogging.
