Statue of Viggo Hørup

About Statue of Viggo Hørup
Viggo Hørup displayed here was a lawyer turned politician who was very vocal about ensuring equality of opportunity between the peasants and the privileged classes. The statue was erected in 1908 and placed in the Kings Garden right at the “Kings Gate” as a celebration to the work Viggo Hørup did to open up the “Kings Garden” for everyone and not just the privileged classes. On the sides of the base you have three reliefs in bronze telling 3 stories about before during and after abolishment of slavery in Denmark.
