The commission structure explained

Every product or service on HelloEcho can be offered by a business with or without a commission for promoters. In this way businesses can choose to pay promoters to use their megaphone to make sure their offer is seen by the general public. Some businesses choose to offer commission and some don’t, you can see your offers on the Promotions page.

Commission split between promoters

When a commission is applicable and an order is made, we use a commission split to ensure that everyone involved in the transaction is paid for their part of the work involved.

We have fundamentally setup the commission split to be 65/35 between the direct referrer and HelloEcho. However, we share up to 71% part of our commission with referrers other than the direct referrer in order to make sure that we adequately recognize the work done, that was part of making the order happen.

Direct commission – 50-65%

Direct commission is the classic sales commission. It can be earned when a booking is made through one of your recommendations, and commission is offered by the vendor selling the product or service you recommend. The creator of the recommendation then gets what we call direct commission, if commission is offered. The commission is 65% of the offered commission, if the recommendation is not an echo. If your recommendation is an echo of another users recommendation, then you get 50% instead.

Echo commission – 15%

Echo commission is an indirect commission earned when a booking with commission is made through what we call an echo of a recommendation. An echo is a copy of another persons recommendation. So, as an example, if person “A” makes a recommendation and person “B” also wants to recommend the same place, then person “B” may decide to copy the recommendation made by person “A” instead of making his/her own recommendation. Person “B” can copy the recommendation with 1 click on the echo button. In this way person “B” can quickly recommend a place and show this recommendation to all his/her followers. When a follower of person “B” on the profile page of person “B” makes a booking of the recommendation then person “A” may be able to get echo commission. The echo commission percentage is 15% of the offered commission taken from the direct referrer. If you are really good at making beautiful images and captivating text, then echo commission can be a big part of your earnings on HelloEcho since other big creators may echo your recommendation to their followers, enabling you to get echo commission on many bookings. See more about echoes and how they work in the blog post What echoes are and how they work.

User commission – 15%

The user referral program enables a promoter to get a larger share of the total commission when they refer new users to the site. When a new user is signed up via clicking the “follow” button on your public profile, we register this user as referred by you, and you will earn a share of the HelloEcho commission on all bookings made by this user up to 1 year after signup. To see how you sign-up users via your profile see the blog post How to sign up users via your profile. The user commission is guaranteed for 1 year but we are working on a way to ensure that every creator can continue to earn user commission after a user has been on HelloEcho a whole year. We want to ensure that promoters continue to earn a high commission when they help spread the word about HelloEcho so there will be ways to continue earning user commission after the first year.

Creator commission – 5% for inviter & invitee

Our ambassador referral program enables a social media creator to get creator commission when they refer new creators to the site. When a new creator is signed up via clicking the “follow” button on your public profile, we register this creator as referred by you, and you will earn a share of the HelloEcho commission on all bookings directly referred by this creator up to 1 year after signup. Creator commission is 5% of the offered commission but is paid to both the inviting creator and the invited creator. To see how you sign-up users via your profile see the blog post How to sign up users via your profile. The creator commission is guaranteed for 1 year but we are working on a way to ensure that every creator can continue to earn creator commission after a creator has been on HelloEcho a whole year. We want to ensure that promoters continue to earn a high commission when they help spread the word about HelloEcho so there will be ways to continue earning creator commission after the first year.
